Background:
Samsung Tools is a program written for the Samsung P2 and P3 Mp3 Players. I developed this program very early in my high school career.
Unfortunately, the utility has limited utility nowadays, as nearly all P3s have succumbed to touchscreen failure. Development of the software taught me how to use .DLLs and generally the full development cycle of software.
The Program:
Samsung Tools was created to see how close, function wise, I could get to Samsung’s Emodio, without being as buggy. The program was written in Visual Basic 2010, which goes to show that VB.net is a powerful programming language. The only downside to using VB is that it is impossible to detect an MTP player; this program is based around UMS support (far superior in my mind). It is designed to save to the MP3 player if it is connected, or prompt a save dialog when it is not.
Features:
Datacasts:
With datacasts you can send a text file to your MP3 Player with your weather (USA only), News, and two Custom RSS feeds.
Playlist Creator:
The ability to make a playlist for Samsung Players is now extremely easy. You can also add a playlist DNSE, and export/import that DNSE save information for later use.
Calendar Events:
You can create a basic .ics file that can be read on your MP3 Player.
Contacts:
If you input all your Contact data, Samsung Tools will write a .vcf file; readable on the device.
ID3 Tag Editor:
If your music is mislabeled on your Player, you can now fix that. You can also see the file’s Layer, Bit Rate, Frequency, Duration, Mode and Size.
Firmware Region Changer:
Writes config.dat files for your MP3 Player; it is highly suggested that you use a tutorial to help you with the process, and read all warnings.
My MP3 Player:
You can check your MP3 Player’s Firmware Version, check for Updates, and store your player’s Serial Number for reference.
My Settings:
You can Export / Restore your User Settings.
P3 Tic-Tac Toe:
You can play Tic-Tac Toe against a Human or a Computer.
